Grand Trefoil Scarf Pattern - AM-007

REQUIRES:

Yarn: 2 Skeins Alpine Meadow “Moonbeams” Worsted Weight Yarn (approx. 200 yards)

Pictured in Moonbeams Amethyst

Needles: U.S. Size 10

Gauge: not critical.

Finished size with 4 inches fringe: approx. 5 in. x 60 in.

Pattern: Grand Trefoil from Second Treasury of Knitting Patterns by Barbara G. Walker.

Multiple of 5 stitches + 3.

ABBREVIATIONS:

DL: Drop Loop. Drop the second loop of the double yarn over of previous row on needle. The first loop is already knitted.

YO: Yarn over. Wrap yarn over the needle from front to back of work.

K2tog: knit two stitches together as if they were one.

INSTRUCTIONS:

Cast on 18 stitches loosely.

Knit 3 Rows.

Preparation Row: Knit 3, *(yo) twice, k2 tog, k3, rep from *

Row 1: K3, * DL, (yo) twice, kw tog, k3, rep from *, end last repeat knit 1.

Row 2: K3, * DL, k2, (yo) twice, k2 tog, k1; rep from *

Row 3: K3, * DL, (yo) twice, k2 tog, k3; rep from *

Repeat rows 1-3 until scarf measures approx. 51 inches

Then knit 3 rows and cast off loosely. Add 4 inches fringe if desired. If not adding fringe; repeat rows 1-3 until about 6 yards remain before knitting 3 rows and casting off loosely.

Finishing: Weave in ends. Wash gently in cool water, rinse, blot on towel. Lay flat on towel and pat into shape. Let dry. Wear and Enjoy!

Steam lightly to block. Blocking is optional but it enhances the lace and is highly recommended.
