16", 24" and 32" IN STOCK Ashford Rigid Heddle looms are affordable, portable and versatile- quick and easy to assemble, warp and weave. The rigid heddle loom is a great introduction to hand weaving but is also very versatile. Create beautiful and unique garments and home ware. Weave unique fabrics with color and texture or create beautiful designs with pick-up sticks. The loom can also make woven tapestries and wall hangings. Made from Silver Beech hardwood the loom is very strong and robust.

The Ashford Rigid Heddle Loom now comes with the double heddle side posts included! Having a second heddle allows you the flexibility to weave double width, double layer, double density fabrics as well as allowing you to do exciting patterns and techniques like Theo Moorman.

Four great weaving widths 16, 24, 32 or 48 inches. Rigid Heddle Looms come with one 7.5 dpi reed. Weight from approx. 7 lbs.

To weave with 2 heddles, you will just need two heddles with the same number of dents per inch.

Indirect Warping Option: All standard rigid heddle looms will have holes drilled in the bottom of the rails so you can use your loom as a warping frame for the indirect warping method.

You can purchase a set Rigid Heddle Warping Pegs if you wish to use your loom in this way. There are 14 pegs included in the set, this will allow you to choose a variety of warp lengths. Some benefits of indirect warping are the flexibility to use one thread of one color, it saves space, helps wind even warp lengths with better tension control.>br /> The approximate maximum warp lengths for each size loom using the warping pegs are:
RH400 - Rigid Heddle 16 in. = 15.5 feet
RH600 - Rigid Heddle 24 in. = 22 feet
RH800 - Rigid Heddle 32 in. = 28.5 feet
RH1200 - Rigid Heddle 48 in. = 41.5 feet

Regarding the reed size, wrap your yarns around a 1 inch section of a ruler and have the yarns touching but not jammed together. Then you count the number of wraps of yarn in that 1 inch section and divide by 2 to get the approximate size reed needed for a balanced weave.
Note: Optional stand shown in one of the images is not included. It can be ordered separately. See related items below.
